Helping to stop unwanted direct mail to the deceased

The Bereavement RegisterThe Bereavement Register is a service with one simple aim: To reduce the amount of direct mail to the deceased.

With approximately 80 pieces of unwanted mail sent to the deceased within the first year of death this can be very distressing to the relatives and friends. The Bereavement Register is a way for you to register a death in order to help stop unwanted mail and make the passage of bereavement that little bit easier. Our service can also decrease the risk of identity fraud.

Registering a death online

The Bereavement Register is a free service for the bereaved to register the name and address of the deceased, which are then added to a secure data bank. Companies wishing to mail details of their products and services will use information held on The Bereavement Register for the removal of any deceased’s details that matched to their database. So far this service has prevented ¼ billion items of direct mail to the deceased.
